Two Ph.D. positions are available in the Gozem research group at the Department of Chemistry, Georgia State University (GSU) in Atlanta GA, starting summer or fall of 2018. GozemLAB develops and employs computational methods to study how systems in complex environments respond to light. Namely, we employ both quantum and classical methods to investigate the spectroscopy and photochemistry of chemical systems and biological photoreceptors. We are looking for interested and motivated students with similar research interests, and who meet the criteria for admission to the Ph.D. program at the GSU chemistry department (including a total GRE score of ~300 or above and a TOEFL score of at least 80 when required; see http://chemistry.gsu.edu/files/2016/02/To-Prospective-Graduate-Students.2.16.2016.pdf).

Georgia State University is the largest research university in Georgia, with over 250 degree programs and 100 fields of study. The chemistry department is currently home to ~100 Ph.D. students and ~70 M.S. students, and fully covers tuition costs and provides a cost-of-living stipend for Ph.D. students as well as tuition and partial cost-of-living for M.S. students.
